Re: Quentin Tarantino
I didn't say it was definitely Cliff, and it's entirely possible that someone who found something "juvenile" in one decade may at the very least be able to get a bunch of enjoyment out of the same thing roughly 15 years later—if you can believe it!mfunk9786 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 11:17 pmIt's not Cliff Booth, as we see him getting a bunch of enjoyment out of Hollywood films in 1969. More than one man fought in WWII, if you (and those who theorized that Booth was somehow meant to be an older Aldo Raine) can believe it!JMULL222 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 7:42 pmThat character immediately read to me as Cliff Booth (and Tarantino has clarified in other interviews that Cliff's war experience was WWII, specifically, I believe), so I wonder if perhaps it was translated/rephrased awkwardly to make it sound like an upcoming project when it's actually not.

“Seething in my seat” = “Omigod I cant wait to put on Twitter that Tarantino is on my plane!!!”
My favorite part is how she indulges in the stereotypes of women being overly emotional AND overly passive-aggressive AND just overly kinda ditzy (e.g., “adult behavior”) in service of condemning someone else’s portrayal of women. My feeling is that Tarantino could hardly do worse.
Maybe we should all just quit the internet.

I'm not sure most of these stories make their authors look like badasses.Big Ben wrote:It's why I stopped going on Twitter. Re: Quentin Tarantino
I don’t know why every current release thread needs to have a Twitter drama recap, and don’t really want to contribute, but how hard is it to just not follow people that engage with this nonsense? I never see this stuff on my feed unless it’s being explicitly mocked. Find better people to follow. (I’ve also never understood the concept of getting mad online but that’s a whole other thing)

Re: Quentin Tarantino
It's entertaining, to me at least, because of how low impact it ultimately is

Agreed. I’d rather not see comments from some twitter twit in his dedicated thread either, but I guess first things fuckin’ last...MongooseCmr wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2019 7:33 amI don’t know why every current release thread needs to have a Twitter drama recap, and don’t really want to contribute, but how hard is it to just not follow people that engage with this nonsense? Re: Quentin Tarantino
Tarantino's doing a three-part guest stint on The Ringer's "The Rewatchables" podcast, starting with an 90-minute dissection of Dunkirk.
I haven't listened yet, but be forewarned that the two co-hosts on at least this first podcast can be intermittently insufferable...

Re: Quentin Tarantino
Third will be Abel Ferrara's King of New York, this time next week.
I will say, hearing Tarantino thoughtfully talk up a movie for an hour is absolutely persuasive, I went from not remembering that it exists at all to really wanting to watch Unstoppable within a matter of a lunch break today

It's not great, but is good and an interesting film for Scott to go out on. I don't have the time to listen to the podcast, but the most interesting thing about the film is that it's shot as an intense action movie, without having any action to it.

Is it just Denzel Washington and Chris Pine sitting across from each other on the train and having a conversation?

a pretty lame joke.
He said the Hebrew phrase for "I have nothing to do with this", In hebrew it's actually a question like "how's that my business?" but when translated literally it's "why am I tied?"
you know... becuase... he's tied...

Re: Quentin Tarantino
Just revisited Sergio Corbucci's hippie hating western The Specialists. There's a brief appearance of a black saloon girl called Brunhild. Funny how this small detail most likely caught Tarantino's attention and how that grew into huge storyline in Django Unchained.
