Hey, that is fantastic ! Even if just the feature films would have been subbed then great but even better. Thanks for asking.
Hopefully an order from Brazil is possible, that CPF field is always an issue. How to bypass it?

I contacted Versátil again - they told me that foreigners who are interested in obtaining any of their products should e-mail the managing partner, André Mello (andre@dvdversatil.com.br), naming the desired product(s) and providing the address. He'll take it from there.

Speaking of Babenco on physical media, Versátil has just announced a limited DVD set containing 8 of his films, including Lucio Flavio, Foolish Heart and At Play in the Fields of the Lord. Those are probably not remastered, though, as ATitFotL is 4x3 just like the old DVD.

A new UK label, Mawu Films, will focus on South American and African cinema.
Their first release will be the seminal Brazilian doc 20 Years Later.

Oh yeah they followed me on Twitter awhile ago and I remember looking into them. Glad they are finally getting their first release off. Definitely something I'd like to support.Cremildo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 11:26 amA new UK label, Mawu Films, will focus on South American and African cinema.

Exciting development. I wonder if they will only release arthouse titles or include genre films as well. Either way, I wish them every success and hope they are hiring Fidelity In Motion or someone as competent for the encoding. South American cinema is under represented on home video despite some efforts from Criterion and Film Movement and Milestone.

And Second Run, of course, with Liverpool (Argentina) and Neon Bull (Brazil).
But clearly this is potentially very exciting news.

From their e-mail newsletter:
Man Marked for Death, 20 Years Later (Cabra Marcado para Morrer) A film by Eduardo Coutinho
“A work of cinema that haunts me since I first saw it in the ’80s... Eduardo Coutinho’s masterwork”
Kleber Mendonça Filho, Director of Aquarius and Bacurau
Man Marked for Death, 20 Years Later is an intensely moving portrait of a family ripped apart by the murder of the Sapé Peasant League leader, João Pedro Teixeira. Structurally daring, this seminal documentary creates a complex, genre-defying mosaic and the film’s triptych design that makes for a compelling odyssey through twenty years of Brazilian political upheaval.

Limited Edition O-Card slipcase
Limited Edition collector’s booklet feat. new writing by Berkeley Professor Natalia Brizuela
