Vote now. Vote Bergman.

The Bergman box is incredible. Let's show some appreciation by discussing one of its films. Above are five randomly generated titles.

I voted All These Women because I am a supervillain, but none of these are particularly good choices anyways

Perversely, I did the same, because I’m morbidly curious about it, and this would be a good justification for foregoing the box set’s order.

I'm not voting because I don't have the film in hand, but I maintain as an aesthetic and humourous whattchamajigger it's one of Bergman's greatest film.

Rayon Vert Presents: five 30s films

#1210 Post by Mr Sausage » Fri Feb 01, 2019 8:18 am

Given Rayon Vert's tireless contributions to the 30s List Project, it was only natural to ask him to curate a round of 30s films to vote for.

LQ might make her triumphant return to posting if Gold Diggers of 1933 wins.

On the Waterfront is the only one I haven't seen, so it gets my vote.

The theme here is that these were random picks from a pile of around two dozen of the canonical titles I own but am most embarrassed not to have seen yet! And if you think these reflect poorly on my cinephile credentials, you should see some of the others on that list that weren’t chosen...

The only one I haven't seen is the Bergman but all of them with the exception of Brazil warrant a rewatch. But I'm a sucker for Kieslowski and haven't played my Criterion yet so it got my vote

I have seen all of these, but that’s 90% of the reason why I was already a moderator. I need to rewatch Blue for the Cesars list and On the Waterfront for the upcoming Oscars list, so either of those has my support. I know the Great Dictator like the back of my hand after years of teaching it, and I don’t ever need to see Brazil again

Coincidentally, I'm giving a presentation on Hour of the Wolf next week, so that one definitely gets my vote. I might even have some shocked reactions from Bergman neophytes come discussion time, haha (assuming it continues to lead the field)
